Avon is in the heart of the Vail Valley and serves as the getaway to the world-class Beaver Creek Resort. Avon is located eight miles west of Vail and a few minutes away from Beaver Creek. The town offers its visitors and locals, stunning views, numerous recreational opportunities, different dining options, shops, and lodging. Year-round, Avon features concerts, festivals, and other thrilling events such as the annual Salute to the USA in its famous Harry A. Nottingham Park, which is a magic friendly family event that offers many fun activities.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS

From the peaceful Harry A. Nottingham Park, you can admire the epic views of the Vail Valley. Rent a paddleboat or a standup paddleboard and explore the relaxing waters of the lake. You can also enjoy kayaking, boating, fishing, or simply soak in some Colorado sunshine on the sandy beach. The park has running and walking paths, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, a playground, and grills around the park to enjoy a cookout. Throughout the summer you can enjoy concerts and events at the park. Nottingham Park is home to one of the best Fourth of July fireworks shows in Colorado.

 

 

Avon Recreation Center is a multi-use facility that features a fitness center, yoga studio, and pool with five-lane lap pool and kids area. The water play structure will delight children for hours of play. Guests can also find some relaxation in the indoor hot tub, steam room and sauna.

SIGNATURE EVENTS

Salute to the USA is an annual event that takes place at the Harry A. Nottingham Park. Bring your camping chair and a blanket, and get ready for the most fantastic firework display in the Vail Valley. This event features excellent music, a variety of food and drinks, face painting, balloon sculptures, magicians, and much more. Walk around the park, set up a picnic, or have a cookout with friends and family while you wait for the fantastic show. Salute to the USA happens annually on July 3.

Flynn Creek Circus is a family-friendly event that features performances such as aerial acts on ropes, trapezes, and aerial silks. Flynn Creek Circus welcomes its guests into an intimate 500 seat tent and is directed by Blaze Birge and David Jones known as the Daring Jones Duo.

Lakeside Cinema is a free friendly event that allows you to spend fun and quality time watching movies outdoors with friends and family while enjoying stunning views of the Vail Valley and its wonderful sunsets. This event takes place at the Harry A. Nottingham Park, next to the lake. Therefore, there is plenty of room around the park to get cozy and comfortable; sitting is on the grass field so bringing a lawn chair or blanket is recommended to enjoy and relax.

Avon Art Festival is an annual event to celebrate the fine visual arts and handcrafted goods. The event features the work of more than 80 juried artists from across the nation representing a wide range of arts such as ceramics, printmaking, jewelry, media, photography, and more.
