Hermanos Gutiérrez bring cinematic guitar sound to Beaver Creek Oct. 2
One week after releasing a new album inspired by the Andes and their South American roots, Swiss-Ecuadorian guitar duo Hermanos Gutiérrez will bring their cinematic instrumental sound to the Vilar Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 PM.
Brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez have built an international following with a remarkably spare musical formula: two guitars, lap steel and an unmistakable musical connection between them. Drawing on Latin American rhythms, surf music, western soundscapes and psychedelia, their largely wordless music conjures landscapes that stretch from the Andes to the deserts of the American Southwest.
The Vilar performance comes exactly one week after the September 25 release of the duo’s newest album, “Los Ojos Del Cóndor,” their sixth album and third produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. The new record turns their sound more directly toward South America, drawing inspiration from their mother’s native Ecuador, their family’s Peruvian heritage and musical traditions from across the continent.
“Our ambition for the Vilar is to bring extraordinary artists to our community and create a stage that is as adventurous, diverse and artistically ambitious as the audiences we serve,” said Cameron Morgan, Executive Director of the Vilar. “Hermanos Gutiérrez have created a distinctive sound shaped by their Ecuadorian roots and embraced by audiences around the world. They reflect the globally relevant artistry that continues to define the Vilar’s programming.”
Over the past several years, Hermanos Gutiérrez have taken that sound to some of the world’s most prominent stages, including Coachella, and introduced it to an even broader audience through an acclaimed NPR Tiny Desk Concert. They have toured with Khruangbin and joined Jack Johnson on his 2026 “SURFILMUSIC” tour across North America and Europe. The brothers also co-composed the score for the Jack Johnson documentary “SURFILMUSIC.”
Tom Rush concert moves to Saturday, October 3
With the addition of Hermanos Gutiérrez to the fall calendar, the previously announced Tom Rush concert will move one day, from Friday, October 2 to Saturday, October 3.
All tickets already purchased for Tom Rush will be honored for the October 3 performance, and ticket holders who are able to attend the new date do not need to take any action. All other details of the performance remain unchanged.
