Get to Know EagleVail and Avon

EagleVail and Avon are neighboring communities in the heart of the Vail Valley. They offer a variety of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking a bit less hustle & bustle than you might find in the resort core of Beaver Creek or Vail – while just a short distance from both of their resort neighbors.

As a long-time local resident, here are some of my recommendations for the best things to do in EagleVail and Avon.

  • Skiing and Snowboarding: In winter, hit the slopes at nearby Beaver Creek Resort or Vail Mountain. Both offer the skiing and snowboarding experiences you think of when you think about the Vail Valley.
  • Hiking and Biking: During the warmer months, explore the numerous hiking and biking trails that crisscross the area. Notable trails in EagleVail include the EagleVail Trail and Evercrisp Trail, as well as the West Avon Preserve in Avon.
  • Golfing: EagleVail Golf Club offers a picturesque 18-hole course that winds through the community with stunning mountain views. EagleVail offers 18 holes of exceptional mountain golf for players seeking a “double black diamond” type of layout. The elevated shots, rugged and manicured terrain, creeks, and rivers will truly be an unforgettable round of golf. EagleVail is also home to the Willow Creek Par 3 course, perfect for kids and families to enjoy a short outing.
  • Fly Fishing: The Eagle River, which flows through Avon, is renowned for its trout fishing. Spend a day casting a line and enjoying the tranquility of the river.
  • Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Avon’s Nottingham Lake is perfect for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Rent equipment and enjoy a relaxing paddle surrounded by beautiful scenery.
  • Swimming: Avon and EagleVail are home to some of the best swimming in Eagle County. The Avon Recreation Center features a large indoor aquatic facility with a lap pool, leisure pool, lazy river, and water slides. It’s a popular spot for families and individuals looking to swim or enjoy water-based activities.
    • The EagleVail Pool is a community pool located in EagleVail. It offers an outdoor swimming option, including lap swimming, water aerobics, and recreational swimming. The pool is typically open seasonally during the summer months.
    • Nottingham Lake is a man-made body of water where visitors can enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing during the summer months. The lake is relatively shallow and has designated swimming areas, making it suitable for families and individuals of all ages.
  • Outdoor Concerts and Events: Check out the local events calendar for outdoor concerts, festivals, and other cultural events happening throughout the year, many of which are hosted at Avon’s Nottingham Park.
