Location: Beaver Creek Village
Time: 8:00pm

Comedian Paul Rodriguez' career has spanned more than two decades and includes starring roles and featured appearances in over 30 films and countless television series and specials. As a well-rounded stand-up comedian, having honed his craft over the past twenty-five years, it is estimated that Paul has performed live to well over one million concert goers from coast to coast building a solid fan base. Within Hispanic communities, Rodriguez is considered to be the Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce and George Carlin when it comes to original comedy. Hands down, he has become the Original Latin King of Comedy.

His first big break came while doing comedy warm-ups for Norman Lear's show "Gloria". Lear ultimately wrote and developed a weekly series for Paul, "a.k.a. Pablo". Paul holds the honor and is enshrined at the Smithsonian as the first television show about a Mexican American family on mainstream American television. For four years (1990-1994) Paul hosted "El Show de Paul Rodriguez", an entertainment talk show for the Spanish-language Univision Network. The show reached an international audience throughout the United States and 17 other countries in Central and South America.

The Angels in Action 5K Run/Walk is held each summer to benefit the Crissa Lea Swinford Memorial Scholarship Fund. Each year, the event grows with over one hundred people taking part in the run/walk at Nottingham Park and along the Eagle River in Avon, Colorado. There has also been a dog walking portion added to this year’s event. The 2009 race will be Saturday August 1, 2009.
The race benefits The Crissa Lea Swinford Memorial Scholarship. This merit scholarship is awarded to Battle Mountain High School students who display the characteristics displayed by Crissa Lea Swinford. Last year, the fund awarded two $2,500 scholarships to two young women from Battle Mountain High School. All proceeds from the race go directly to the scholarship fund.
If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund, please contact Cara Connolly at (970) 845-2049 or cconnolly@slifer.net.

Phil is the honorary chair of Swift Eagle and this will be an encore performance. In 2006, he spoke to a sold out crowd about his life experiences and commitment to community. Fifty local students, sponsored by Ginn Resorts and Clubs, spent time talking with Jackson. The September 2009 event will have a similar format starting with a reception, followed by dinner and a presentation.

Swift Eagle Foundation was created in 2004 by a group of long time Eagle County locals committed to helping people in the community. The inspiration came from David Haakenson, Vail resident since 1970. He had a dream about starting a charitable foundation with the name of Swift Eagle. Perhaps coincidentally, this was the Indian name given to his lifelong friend, Phil Jackson, by the Lakota Indians of South Dakota. Phil, renowned coach of the LA Lakers, was inspired by David’s dream and volunteered to be the honorary chair of the organization.
Swift Eagle is dedicated to 'swiftly respond to help residents of Eagle County in times of hardship or crisis'. It is unique in that it has no overhead costs. All administrative work is done by volunteers and almost 100% of the funds raised are passed on to people in need. Many people have been financially assisted in Swift Eagle's five year history.
Information about the Swift Eagle Foundation and reservations and sponsor information for the upcoming events are available by contacting Ginny Snowdon at 970-949-5279 or vhsnow@aol.com. The Colorado Grand Car Rally takes place each fall in the gorgeous valley of Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado. Generally nearly 100 cars and drivers register to participate in this annual event. The cars are always spectacular. In the past, they have included Ferraris, Macerates and a Zagato. These vehicle gems sign up to enjoy one of the most scenic rally rides in the United States. The evening before the rally, a traditional dinner takes place complete with instructions from the Colorado State Patrol regarding safety issues. In addition to the fine food and camaraderie, there is an auction at the end of the event which benefits many charities. If you can't drive the rally, you can come and enjoy all the fantastic vehicles and the fun, friendly atmosphere ofthe event.
